About Amy

Hi, I'm Amy Hyink!  I moved to Temple from Austin in October 2011.  I live in south central Temple with my husband Parker, and our two pups Abby and Banana.  I have always loved being in the kitchen.  I used to pour over an old 1950s Imperial Pure Cane Sugar cookbook planning all of the exciting exploits I was going to try out when I had my own kitchen, or when an unsuspecting adult was brave enough to let a culinary interested ten year old terrorize their kitchen for a few hours!  I remember glazed carrots being of particular interest at the time.

I don't know what happened to my little Imperial cookbook, but that doesn't mean that I have run out of reading material. I spend plenty of time reading cookbooks and plotting ideas for cakes, cookies, candy, and so much more.  My real education in cooking started much later than the little girl with the old cookbook.  When I moved out of my parents house I became a strict vegan and leaned to cook accordingly.  Vegan baking was a must!  I learned about adding a little vinegar in a cupcake recipe to get the batter to rise, or adding ground flax seeds to a cookie dough to bind it together.  I've been baking vegan for almost 6 years now.

Amy's Vegan Confections started out as a way for me to share baked goods with friends, and friends of friends in the Austin area.  Now that I am living in Temple, I would love to share with you too!  I have experience with custom orders (I did all of my own baking for my wedding reception), and all of the varieties listed in the menu are sure to please.  Thanks for stopping by, and don't be shy!  I would love for you to try my treats!
